Memories of a Summer Sunset

The memories of summer evenings always had skies like this. Towering cumulus clouds bathed in the golden light of sunset fill the sky, and before them, the silhouette of a small girl stands alone, gazing at the vast landscape spread before her. In the sky where orange and blue meet, a streak of light — whether a meteor or a contrail — pierces through the clouds and pulls the eye upward. The mountain ridges stretching into the distance and the glittering city lights far below make the girl's solitude all the more vivid, and there is something unexpectedly beautiful about the smallness of a person standing before the overwhelming grandeur of nature. No one can know what the girl is thinking as she silently looks up at the sky, but it feels as though this summer evening sky is speaking for her.
